365 # 121 Fun with Puzzles

The last day of April, which seems utterly impossible. But I'm ready for May and all that it holds.
More advice from Teen Scene (1970)
Text reads..'A great evening for you and a frien- get the world's hardest jigsaw puzzle, a few cokes and some potato chips. All you need now is some good conversation. Or records.'

I like the addition of 'Or records'.

365 # 120 A Nifty Gifty

This card ought to be a bit bigger for all the text I crammed in. This one keeps me giggling.

'Soap-on-a-rope is a man handy shower accessory and groovy gift in his fave fragrance. Or, now that men's colognes have become the thing, try out a scent for your beau, maybe with matching powder for a nifty-gifty'

365 #119 you're so progressive

Fab! Teen Scene scores with a groovy party idea, as long as everybody's mom is on board!

Text reads 'Why don't you and your friends organize a progressive party. Meet at Sally's at six for pre-dinner sodas tomato juice and a light soup. Get to Jane's at seven for the main course. Arrive at Bill's at 8:45 for dessert then on to John's for dancing.'

365 #118 be an asset

Here's some stellar advice that I think has great potential to backfire. Except the talking to everybody part, cause if you only talk to the cute boys you could get a r e p u t a t i o n.

365 #116 Goldfish pie

Kitty looks comfortable cooking up a storm of kitty pies.

'If you've just started cooking, don't experiment on guests-or worse yet, dates!'

365 # 115 Don't over do it

'If you're having a party it's a perfect time to approach that boy you haven't yet dated but want to. Invite him, greet him pleasantly when he arrives, but don't overdo it.'

365 #115 A Birthday Card

My first card in a while which doesn't come from Teen Scene.

365 #114 More important advice

Teen Scene (1970) gives you this very important piece of advice, which is still relevant today...

Text reads
'Always, repeat always leave a party, dance or anything else with the same boy who brought you, no matter how groovy a guy you meet during the evenng.'

365 #113 Aquarius

'Aquarius birthday girls don't care as much about the color and cut of a dress as it's purpose. You are a busy miss and your clothes must suit your busy life.'

A little late for Aquarians, I know...but it was the perfect text for the image.

365 #112 His and Hers nifty gifties

What man doesn't want to wear a matching outfit with his girlfriend?

Another quote from Teen Scene (1970).
'Sew yourself a big, fun, bold print dress-and make a necktie to match for him'.

365 #111 Super hip Incentive

I love this one.Another bit of advice from  Teen Scene(1970). It originally recommended having the photos taken whole wearing your tightest 'slacks and blouse'.
Text reads 'If you need incentive to go on a diet, have your best friend photograph you from all angles'.

365 #110 Just plain mean

This is one of the bits of advice I had to shake my head at. I mean, Really? Kinda harsh.
Text reads 'Tall girls who stoop are just plain stupid!'

365 #109 Teen Scene card # 4

Yeeeesss!!!!! I love this one...
text reads 'Thin, vertical stripes are the best pattern for the girls who want thinner looking legs'

365 #108 Want healthy eyebrows?

Teen Scene (1970) also says that if you flatter big sis with questions, you may get to borrow her best scarf! Between that scarf and your healthy eyebrows, you'll be one of the hippest girls at school. Natch.

Text reads 'Ask your older sister's advice and you may pick up some valuable tips-Like this one. For healthy eyebrows, you should brush them as often as you brush your teeth.'

I have no idea how many cards I'll make from this incredible book, but my guess is...A LOT. Every page is full of absolute gems. Mostly the advice is vacuous and silly. And I love it.

365 #107 still, with the grooviness

This is one of the strangest french Postcard images I've seen. But when I saw the chapter title 'What Size? Exercise!' from Teen Scene, pub. 1970, I knew she'd found purpose.

365 # 106 Super groovy advice #1

Thus begins a series of cards with direct, unaltered advice from Teen Scene the Super-hip, NOW guide to everything, published September 1970.

Text reads 'Don't select your jewelry until you are completely dressed. Then, try it on in front of a full-length mirror. Get the total picture, then make your selection.'

I think he's accessorized rather well.

365 # 104 Friday the 13th

It's another loverly Friday the 13th! I got married on the 13th, so as to have anniversaries fall on this day. Alright, so that wasn't the only reason we chose that day, but it was a little bonus. I am busy with a couple of custom orders from my FloMade shop on etsy, so I made a quick card this morning...

Meow meow meow. 'The cat lady makes a card'.

365 # 102 A good son

When I found this bit of text, I thought..what a good kid. Then I wondered if maybe he was thinking 'geez, Mother, this is a swell book and I don't want to run to the store for your Chesterfield cigarettes'. We'll never know.
Text reads
'Charles was reading an interesting book. His mother called him and asked him to go on an errand for her. Charles put a slip of paper in his book to keep the place and started at once, saying, "Yes, mother, I'm coming."'

365 #101 You, only prettier.

This image and text...
Came from this groovy book...
circa 1970.
It's full of the hippest ideas for a super cool bedroom, having the hippest closet in town, being a totally with it hostess, and boys! boys! boys!
Amazing in it's ability to send me into gales of laughter at one 'tip', and have me shudder with horror at the next. Look for super lots of Groovy hints and tips in future cards!

365 # 100!!

My 100th card is the 1st without text.
I was on the run. If I had been able, the text would have read 'he dreams of expeditions'.

365 #99 The unspoken woo

I want to make this in a 'two ladies' and 'two fellas' version. I'm on the search for more disembodied heads.
Text reads                                    'He said nothing. But I knew it.'

Look at that guy, I mean really. He's totally wooing her...silently

365 # 97 Surprise!!

'The children could hardly wait to yell 'surprise!''

365 #....

If you are trying to change the blade in your paper slicer, and it doesn't quite fit...Do Not try To Force It To Fit. It may result in Butterfly bandages and wooziness.
And no card for the day, as it is the index finger of my dominant hand that got cut. Seeing as it is a leap year, and I made a card on leap day, I feel okay about taking a healing day. Here is a picture of the morning, including the card I had started to make:)

And just for the heck of it, here is one of my favorite cards so far this year..

365 # 93 This card contains Menopausal content

Let me begin by saying I'm very pro-flow. I think periods are awesome, and it makes me happy to have one. For all of the mom's and potential mom's it's a great big reminder of the gift of fertility, which is wonderful and amazing and stuff. The 5-7 days before one's period, however, is harder to feel good about. I'm generally too cranky, pimply, and bloated to celebrate the wonders of menarche.

I hear that menopause is full of the potential for huge emotional growth. That it is full of creativity and self awareness, not just night sweats and vaginal dryness. I choose to believe that it will be Amazing, and I will be a glowing, sparkly menopausal lady (and not from sporting a perpetual sweat 'stache).
Here is a card to celebrate menopause!
The outside reads 'Great Heavens! I'm free from the curse'
 'happy menopause'
